The Golf Solitaire playbook

Before making a move, check the cards in view. Remove all 35 tableau cards. Select cards directly on the tableau and work through a full solo deal. Take the next action only when the current step is clear. Begin with the objective. Take an exposed bottom card one rank above or below the waste top, allowing ace–king wrapping. The same rule applies on a phone and on a computer.

Seven columns of five, one stock pass. Free solo play, no wagering.

One thing to notice as you play

Treat this as a chance to practise one rule. Tap exposed cards that satisfy the removal rule shown above. Check the relevant controls before continuing.

  3. Draw when useful.
  4. Undo reverses a choice. New deal shuffles again.

Using the playing area

Click or tap cards and piles. Wide tableaus scroll inside the game; use Undo, Hint and New deal where shown. Return to the explanation when a decision is unclear. Use the rule sheet as a reference.

A useful example

Waste queen accepts jack or king. Return to the explanation when a decision is unclear.

Watch out for this

Use the rule sheet as a reference. Random deals are not guaranteed solvable. A hint is a legal move, not a winning strategy. Take the next action only when the current step is clear.
